I’ve had my coffee butter infusing for some time now and it smells delicious. I’ll have to start a new infusion soon but this one got a full 6 months of cold infusion with Starbucks Pike Place Espresso. The infused coffee really brings out a strong coffee scent while the Cocoa butter I used is unrefined and brings a chocolate scent to the coffee, the vanilla is very mild and sort of sweetens the coffee/chocolate.
The Recipe I used was..
1/8 cup Coconut Oil infused with fresh espresso grounds
1/8 cup Sunflower Oil infused with Vanilla Beans
1/8 cup Cocoa Butter
1/8 cup Mango Butter
1/4 cup Emulsifying Wax
2/3 – 1 1/2 cups Strong Coffee (depending on how thick or thin you want the lotion to be)
1 tbs jojoba oil
10 drops Vitamin E
In a double boiler melt Coconut Oil, Sunflower oil, Cocoa Butter, Mango Butter, Emulsifying Wax until solids are dissolved.
Meanwhile, make 1 cup of strong coffee.
Remove oils from double boiler and pour into bowl. Measure 1/2 cup coffee and add to oils while stirring.
(Enjoy the rest of the coffee you brewed while completing the final steps)
Mix well until liquid is smooth, place bowl in Fridge for a few moments until a thicker skin forms on top and around the sides of the bowl.
Remove from fridge and mix well, repeat process until lotion has thickened and cooled. Just as it cools and starts to become a solid add Jojoba, Vitamin E and Preservative. Mix well and then for several minutes more for good measure.
