This is a lard soap, I added some coconut, olive, sunflower and castor oil to get the particular hardness, cleansing and bubbling qualities I like in my soap. I added colloidal oatmeal and honey at 1 teaspoon per lb. Substituted part of the distilled water with coconut milk.
Colloidal oatmeal is oats ground into a non-abrasive micro-fine powder. It’s easy to find on craft supply websites.
I added colloidal oatmeal at one tablespoon per pound of oil in one of my basic soap recipes. I will now let them sit for a few days or weeks before I trim them up and remove the soda ash.
3.2 oz white melt and pour soap (I used the shea butter variety)
1/4 tsp Rose Clay
1/8 tsp Stearic Acid
1/8 tsp Oatmeal (ground to a fine powder with a blender or coffee grinder)
2 drops geranium Rose Essential Oil
Chop soap into rough chunks and place into a microwave safe container with the Rose Clay, Stearic Acid and Colloidal Oatmeal. Microwave in bursts of 15 seconds until it is mostly all melted. Remove and mix thoroughly until all soap has melted and is smooth. Add Essential Oil and pour into mold.
